FILM CLUBS

I first started running film clubs in 2009, when I moved to Deptford, and set up Deptford Film Club. I didn’t realise that getting things right takes a massive amount of time and energy, so I learned my trade through a combination of trial-and-error and taking great advice & training from others.

DEPTFORD FILM CLUB
Regular film events in the Deptford area of south London, screening the very best of world, arthouse, cult and British cinema. Based above the Amersham Arms in New Cross, the film club is open to all, although is currently in hiatus. In 2012 Deptford Film Club won a commendation for best film programming at the Film Society of the Year Awards. deptfordfilmclub.org

SYDENHAM FILM CLUB
In 2011 I was commissioned to programme, promote and manage events for this monthly film club at the Golden Lion in Sydenham. In 2013 I recruited a new co-ordinator and board, who are successfully managing the film club’s financial and creative success. sydenhamfilmclub.org

“None of this would have happened without Phoenix’s love and passion for film and his excellent organisational skills, which has brought us a wide range of audiences to our screenings. He has helped us get to grips with all the equipment, obtain a suitable venue, adminstration, organise licensing, and finances.” Sarah Chan, Sydenham Film Club

BIG RED FAMILY CINEMA
In 2013 I was commissioned to set up a free family film club to bring new customers to the Big Red Pizzeria. I provided legal and technical advice, programmed film screenings for 4 months, managed and marketed events for 2 months, and created design templates for posters and flyers to allow the Big Red team to continue the cinema themselves. www.bigredpizza.co.uk

“Thanks to Cinema Forever, we’ve seen a significant increase in our weekend trade, and are now getting more bookings for children’s parties than we can handle. They made the whole process very easy for us (Phoenix was a pleasure to work with!) and we now feel confident running our film events on our own.” Dawn Safari, Big Red Pizzeria

If you want to set up regular film screenings in your area, I have the skills and experience to:

  • find the right venue and equipment
  • take care of legal, financial & technical considerations
  • research and connect with audiences
  • develop and deliver film screening programmes
  • create templates for posters, flyers & online marketing materials
  • collect data on audience attendance and feedback
  • train your staff & volunteers.

I offer everything from one-off advice sessions to a full management package.
