FILMS IN THE CRYPT

quayWe got to know the people at St Nicholas Church when we ran a screening of Pasolini’s Gospel According to Matthew as part of New Cross + Deptford Free Film Festival 2012.

A few months later we returned the favour and ran an afternoon of spectacularly spooky short films in the crypt, as part of the church’s annual community festival. Hundreds of people dropped in. Some stayed for several films. And one person sat through four hours of the creepiest films from the Brothers Quay.

A year later we came back to the same spot – and ran an afternoon of films by the Russian genius animator Yuri Norstein.
